Erik O. Paulsen (1962) is a historian, author, journalist and numismatist. Since 1979 he has written more than 2000 articles on various subjects and published 11 books. He has earlier had regular columns about numismatics, exonumia and notafili in Samler- og Antikkbørsen (Collectors- and Antiques Magazine)and major Norwegian newspaper Bergens Tidende in addition to numerous numismatic articles in other publications. His personal interests are phalleristics(the study of orders) and Persian coins prior to 1979. Paulsen is a Member of Oriental Numismatic Society and The British Museum. Bergens Mynt- og Seddelforretning has commissioned Paulsen to write a monthly article about coins, medals, and banknotes on this Web page.
