17 European countries have "lost" their own coins and banknotes
There has not been a common currency in Eurpoe since the Roman. When the European monitary union was established, more than 320 million European got a common currency, the EURO. This was undoubtedly the biggest numismatic event for a long time.
In January 2002 the inhabitants in 12 of the first 15 member countries in EU (Denmark, Sweden and England did not join) had to lay away their old coins and banknotes, from this date the EURO took over as their currency.
After this date another 5 new member countries have joint the EURO-zone and Estonia was the last one on the 1st January 2011 to put away their old currency.
We are pleased to present a special collection of all the 17 countries last circulating coins, all together 112 different coins, now presented in a new and modern special blister packing.
