Henrik Wergeland 200 Years anniversary
Henrik Wergeland was born 17th June 1808 in Christiansand (today Kristiansand), and moved to Eidsvoll when he was nine. His father, Nicolay Wergeland, took part in the National Assembly at Eidsvoll in 1814 (when the Norwegian constitution was written) and Henrik got early a strong connection to the Constitution.
King Carl Johan prohibited the celibration of the national constitution day (17th of May), but Wergeland took sutch an active part in the 17th of May celibration that people thought he was the founder of this day.
