In 2009 Norway can celebrate the National Anthem's 150 years anniversary. The text to "Ja, vi elsker" was first written as a political poem by the famous poet Bjørnstjerne Bjørnson in 1859. Five years later when Norway should commemorate the 50 years anniversary for the Constitution, Bjørnson changed part of the text in his poem and he asked his cousin, Rickard Nordraak, to compose a melody to the text. By this Norway got their new National Anthem.
The Post of Norway marked this Jubilee, by issuing a special stamp on the 17th April. The stamp shows Bjørnsons manuscript and children with banner and flag.
The coin used in this numisletter is the 10 kroner commemorative silvercoin issued in 1964 to commemorate the 150 years anniversary for the Constitution. This coin show the Building at Eidsvoll where the Constitution was written in 1814.
