In 2008 the 2€ commemorative to celebrate the French Precidency of the European Union. This is the third time since 1995 the French Republic will lead the European Union.

2 Euro 2011 - FRANCE - The Fete de la Musique, 30 years

World Music Day, is a music festival taking place on June 21. The idea was first broached in 1976 by American musician Joel Cohen.  The idea was taken up by French Music and Dance director Maurice Fleuret for Minister of Culture Jack Lang in 1981 and first took place in 1982 in Paris.
