In early 1952, Princess Elizabeth, accompanied by The Duke of Edinbourg, left England for an official visit to Australia and New Zealand in place of her father, King George VI, who was too ill to travel. On 6 February, whilest in Kenya on the first stage of the trip, she received the news of her fathers death and her own accession to the throne. In 2002 Queen Elizabeth II is celebrating her Golden Jubilee as a queen. This is an event not many monarch can celebrate and therefore many countries take part in this celebrations.
