Beginning in 2010, the United States Mint will issue 56 quarter-dollar coins featuring designs depicting national parks and other national sites as part of the United States Mint America the Beautiful Quarters™ Program. Five new national site designs, depicted on the reverse (tails side), will be released each year in the order in which the honored site was first established as a national site. As for the previous program these coins will be minted with mintmarks P for Philadelphia and D for Denver.
Common Obverse Each coin in the series features a common obverse (heads side) with the 1932 portrait of George Washington by John Flanagan, which has been restored to bring out subtle details and the beauty of the original model. Inscriptions are UNITED STATES OF AMERICA, LIBERTY, IN GOD WE TRUST and QUARTER DOLLAR.
